Hurricane Valley Chamber of Commerce members voted to honor the Utah Food Bank Southern Distribution Center as the July 2020 Business of the Month.
Food and shelter are the most basic of human needs. For years, the Utah Food Bank has addressed those essential needs with a mostly volunteer army of Utah citizens.
Founded in 1904, Utah Food Bank has operated under various names but has always remained true to their mission of fighting hunger statewide. 417,000 Utahns, which equates to 1 in 7 Utahns, are at risk of missing a meal today. Even more alarming is that 1 in 5 Utah kids are unsure where their next meal is coming from.
As the nation navigates the challenges and restrictions associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, the dedicated staff at the Utah Food Bank continue to do their part to insure that the help and services they provide are not interrupted, putting their own health at risk to serve and lift the burdens of thousands of people.
It takes a village to raise a child and sometimes a village to feed them as well.
