Joe and Connie Zdunich Honored at Hurricane Valley Chamber Luncheon

When it comes to unconditional love and unlimited community service, Joe and Connie Zdunich wrote the book.

Joe is a retired military man, Utah Highway Patrolman, and LDS Bishop.  In all of his chosen careers, his focus has always been on serving others.  As Bishop, he spent countless hours making certain the needs of his ward members were met.  Bishop Joe was never too busy to spend time with or listen to the youth – he was their hero.  They knew for a certainty that he would not judge them, but only offer unconditional love and support to them and his entire ward family.

Wherever you find Joe, you’ll also find Connie.

Connie Zdunich worked in healthcare in Northern Utah until moving to St. George where she worked as the Community Outreach Director for Spilsbury Mortuary before retiring just a few months ago.  She has served as a hospice volunteer for Southern Utah Home Care & Hospice, Encompass Home Health & Hospice, and Zion’s Way Hospice.  She served on the executive board for Memory Matters and on the steering committee for the annual Alzheimer’s Walk.  As a board member for the Hurricane Valley Chamber of Commerce, she chaired many Chamber events.  Always a champion for those who might be struggling, Connie organized Chamber food drives and solicited supplies for hygiene kits for the Hurricane Food Pantry and the Dove Center, a  shelter for victims of domestic violence.  All this while also serving as an LDS Stake Relief Society President.  She has spent several weeks this summer in Seattle, helping her sister care for her terminally ill husband.  Joe has always been at her side, helping with each and every project Connie was involved with.

Connie is an educator, instructor, and published author.  She and Joe owned and operated a catering business while raising their 7 daughters.  Even with their busy schedules and community commitments, their girls and their families always came first.

Joe and Connie have spent a lifetime helping others and will continue to step forward to assist whenever they see a need.  The Hurricane Valley Chamber of Commerce is pleased to recognize them for the many years of service they have offered and continue to offer, and for the shining example they set for all of us.
