Matt Loo has been with the City of St. George for over 14 years. During this time, he has been an Assistant to the City Manager, Development Services Director, Community Development Director and currently serves as the Economic Development & Special Projects Director. In 2013 he was tasked by the City Manager to create a better model to serve our homeless population, hence the birth of Switchpoint Community Resource Center a place where those struggling with homelessness and poverty can find needed resources at one location.
By assignment from the Mayor and City Council Matt has acted as City liaison for large economic development projects such as the 1,000,000 sq. ft. Family Dollar Distribution Center, Viracon, RAM Company, Wilson Electronics and both the IHC Hospital and their $300,000,000 expansion currently under construction off River Road. Most recently he has taken point on the redevelopment of the 160 acres of the Old St. George Airport that will be known as Tech Ridge, a southern Utah technology hub for tech companies and other businesses that will bring higher paying jobs for current and future generations as well as working with Desert Color, a 3,400-acre multi-use master development on the eastside of mile post 2.
He and his wife Donna have 5 children, a daughter-in-law, 3 sons-in-law and 7 grandchildren.
