Root for Kids, formerly know as The Learning Center for Families was developed under a grant to serve infants and toddlers with developmental or learning disabilities in Washington County, Utah. The grant was originally funded by the Utah Department of Health, Division of Family Health Services. Root for Kids continues to grow and has provided over 15,000 families in Washington County and the Arizona strip with the extra support they need. With the investment from the community and generous donors, Root for Kids was able to expand its services and help more families than ever before. They strive to ensure that every child in the community has the skills they need to excel in school and in life.
Research has shown that the years from prenatal development through 36 months of age provide a window of opportunity for enriching infant/toddler development that can provide lifelong positive outcomes. But for many infants and toddlers, this crucial time can also be a period of heightened vulnerability due to stresses such as poor health, developmental complications, poverty and/or less than optimal home environments.
Families who face these difficulties often need help navigating their challenges. Root for Kids offers several programs to ensure the success of our youngest, most vulnerable members of our community.
Root for Kids was honored as the HVCC March 2019 Business of the Month.
