  • Desert Roads and Trails Society (Desert RATS) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting and protecting the use of public lands in Southern Utah. The big fundraiser each year is their Winter 4×4 Jamboree, an off-road and rock-crawling event held primarily at the Sand Mountain OHV Area near Sand Hollow State Park, Hurricane, Utah.

The Desert Roads and Trails Society (Desert RATS) is a family friendly, inclusive community for anyone who enjoys getting outside to enjoy gorgeous Southern Utah and the surrounding areas. The organization is dedicated to promoting and protecting use of public lands in Southern Utah.

The Desert Roads and Trails Society was formed in March of 2014 by a group of diverse, yet like-minded individuals interested in promoting and protecting use of our public lands by all kinds of recreational users.

The organization is run by volunteers, and any funds raised (above operating costs) are used for keeping access open to all, or donated to public land use organizations.

Their current and most pressing land use concern is the proposed land swap which would allow part of the Sand Mountain OHV area (Sand Hollow) to be developed.

Please contact them for more information about the land swap, or make them aware of any other land use issues.
