In 1986 Danville founder, Art Woolston, saw an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of others by providing safe housing and meaningful supports to people with special needs. His passion and foresight quickly grew into an opportunity to help individuals with disabilities live self-determined lives in natural settings within the community. Many of the people Danville supports endured long stays in state-operated facilities before they arrived at Danville. Today Danville of Utah is honored to offer them the utmost dignity and respect while providing them with loving homes that are integrated into safe neighborhoods. Danville’s Mission: Danville Services is dedicated to helping every client achieve his or her desired quality of life. People with disabilities often require assistance to manage life’s daily challenges. Danville employees work every single day, with chins up and hearts open, to support the disabled with love, compassion, and dedication. Danville Services Director, Rod Ross, is considered a “Rock Star” among his clients. He realized early in his youth that working with the disabled would be his life’s mission. Trusted and respected by special needs clients and their families, he has established a warm and loving environment where the focus is on the ability – not the disability. For those families faced with the challenges of caring and supporting a person with a disability, Danville is there to help. Call Danville. Root for Kids, formerly know as The Learning Center for Families was developed under a grant to serve infants and toddlers with disabilities in Washington County, Utah. The grant was originally funded by the Utah Department of Health, Division of Family Health Services. Root for Kids continues to grow and has provided over 15,000 families in Washington County and the Arizona strip with the extra support they need. With the investment from the community and generous donors, Root for Kids was able to expand its services and help more families than ever before. They strive to ensure that every child in the community has the skills they need to excel in school and in life. Research has shown that the years from prenatal development through 36 months of age provide a window of opportunity for enriching infant/toddler development that can provide lifelong positive outcomes. But for many infants and toddlers, this crucial time can also be a period of heightened vulnerability due to stresses such as poor health, developmental complications, poverty and/or less than optimal home environments. Families who face these difficulties often need help navigating their challenges. Root for Kids offers several programs to ensure the success of our youngest, most vulnerable members of our community. Root for Kids was honored as the HVCC March 2019 Business of the Month.
