The Hurricane Valley Chamber of Commerce honored 58 local American Veterans at their luncheon meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 20th, held at The Haven at Sky Mountain.
The Haven at Sky Mountain generously provided the food and venue for the occasion. The Haven’s Chef Kay Syddall and his capable staff prepared and served a lunch comparable to that of a fine dining restaurant.
Posting the colors was Commander Jerry Curtis, with Steve Bird and Bob Wood of the Sterling Russell American Legion Post 100.
Hurricane’s Nielsen RV donated a beautifully hand carved wooden flag to be displayed in The Haven’s foyer. New HVCC members were introduced and America First Credit Union, Hurricane branch, was honored as the November Business of the Month.
Guest speaker was Vietnam Veteran and American patriot, Doug Hunt. Hunt spoke of his military experience and educated the audience about POW’s (Prisoners of War), the duties and responsibilities of the military, and the proper way to display and honor the American flag.
The luncheon concluded by thanking each Veteran for their service and sacrifice and presenting them with a commemorative coin donated by the Hurricane Rotary Club.
