Neighborhood Connection – Donations Needed

Neighborhood Connection helps children who receive free or reduced-cost meals at school by providing them with food to take home over the weekend. The children receive two breakfasts, two snacks, and two lunches to help ensure they have adequate nutrition – because no child should go hungry.

100 % of all donations stay in Washington County Utah to cover the cost of providing children in need with food on the weekends.

Sponsor a child for a school year: $200
Sponsor a child for a month: $20

Donations Needed:
Sliding Zip Lock gallon size bags
Individual serving microwaveable meals such as 7-8 oz. Mac N’ Cheese, Spaghetti and Meatballs, Chicken and Rice, etc.
Individual serving Applesauce, Fruit Cups, Pudding Cup, Juice Box or Pouch
Instant Oatmeal Packets
Individual size Peanut Butter Crackers or Cheese & Crackers
Granola Bars
Individual size Fruit Snacks

Dixie State University Hurricane Education Center Honored as the September 2019 Business of the Month

The Hurricane Valley Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce the Dixie State University Hurricane Education Center has been nominated and voted by HVCC members to be honored as the September 2019 Business of the Month.

DSU students become lifelong learners, committed to becoming influential individuals who contribute to the well-being of their community. DSU believes this starts with higher education. The campus in Hurricane, UT allows individuals in Southern Utah easier access to complete their higher education goals.

Offering certification programs such as Peace Officer Standards and Training, Certified Nursing Assistant, EMT, A-EMT and Paramedic, the center makes it possible for students to complete entire programs without leaving Hurricane Valley. DSU general education courses in fine arts, physical and life sciences, computer information systems, math, history, and political science are also available at the Hurricane Education Center.

Located walking distance from Hurricane High School, the center also offers concurrent enrollment options for high school students, helping students save time and money by offering courses that fulfill high school and college general requirements.

Under the dedicated leadership of DSU Hurricane Education Center Director, Chris Gifford, the center focuses on helping each and every student achieve their educational goals.

DSU is a generous contributor to countless events and activities in Hurricane Valley and Southern Utah as well as a strong supporter of the Hurricane Valley Chamber of Commerce.

The DSU Hurricane Education Center will be honored at the HVCC luncheon meeting on Thursday, Sept. 19, 2019 at the Hurricane Community Center, 63 South 100 West, Hurricane, Utah.
