Neighborhood Connection Honored as HVCC July Business of the Month

Neighborhood Connection, a program organized by Santa Clara, Utah resident, Donna Grace MacBean, has been nominated and voted to receive the HVCC July 2019 Business of the Month Award.

Neighborhood Connection consists of a small group of volunteers with big goals! A non-profit organization, their mission is to provide qualifying Washington County elementary school children with food to take home over the weekend.

During the 2018-2019 school year, a Washington County elementary school reported 72% of their students qualified for free or reduced rate school lunch, with approximately 50 listed as homeless. Totally dependent upon monetary and food donations, Neighborhood Connection provided those students with two breakfast meals, two snacks, and two lunches following school on Friday – enough to get them through the weekend. Their goal is to be able to provide weekend meals for all Washington County children in need.

The Hurricane Valley Chamber of Commerce is honored to recognize member businesses who work to make a difference in the Hurricane Valley. Recognizing the basic human need for food and shelter, Neighborhood Connection volunteers are working tirelessly to be able to provide a weekend meal for disadvantaged Washington County elementary school children. Neighborhood Connection is truly making a difference.

Neighborhood Connection will be honored at the HVCC luncheon meeting on Thursday, July 18th at the Hurricane Community Center, 63 S. 100 W. Hurricane, Utah. Networking begins at 11:30 a.m. with lunch starting at 11:45 a.m. The guest speaker is martial arts instructor, John Goff. He will address personal safety and demonstrate simple self-defense techniques.
