Alexis Martin, Hurricane High School Student of the Year, Accepted at West Point

It’s not easy being accepted at West Point, United States Military Academy. Only 10% of applicants are accepted, with 22% being female. Yet, a beautiful, intelligent, athletic girl, from the small town of Hurricane, Utah, has accomplished that lofty goal.

Alexis Martin, a 2019 graduate of Hurricane High School, will attend Reception Day (R-Day) at West Point on July 1, 2019.

Part of her acceptance letter reads: On behalf of the President and the Secretary of the Army, I send you congratulations on your appointment to the United States Military Academy.
Your appointment to the Class of 2023 is an outstanding accomplishment. In gaining admission, you have demonstrated exceptional potential for future service to the US Army and the nation. West Point’s education and training programs will give you the opportunity to fully develop that potential.
The letter is signed by Darryl A. Williams, Lieutenant General, US Army
Superintendent.

The Hurricane Valley Chamber of Commerce proudly awarded Alexis with the Student of the Year award along with a scholarship to aid in her education. HVCC Scholarships are awarded annually to Hurricane High School and Dixie State University outstanding students.

On behalf of the Hurricane Valley Chamber of Commerce, we congratulate Alexis on this major accomplishment and wish her much success and safe keeping as she accepts this coveted appointment.
