Welcome to Hurricane

"Welcome. I'm pleased to share my favorite place with you. I enjoy the variety of scenery here. Pine Valley Mountain's changing face to the north and Zion's colorful cliffs to the east are the two most dramatic landforms, but I like the sand dunes to the southwest, Little Creek and Gooseberry Mesas to the east, the hints of Kolob Plateau and Kolob Canyons to the northeast and the Hurricane Hill close at hand with its remnants of the irrigation canal that desperate men dug at great cost to support homes at a time when migration to some other, possibly even less promising, place looked inevitable.

"The above list includes great places for hiking, bicycling and riding ATVs. In addition, we have two beautiful reservoirs within the city limits, two golf courses; Sky Mountain and Sand Hollow with such great vistas that my frequent slices and hooks only rarely evoke bad language, and two museums and a historical park that inspire in both visitors and locals an appreciation for our history and heritage. We have fine places in which to dine or watch a movie and a variety of small businesses eager to attend your needs.

"Two large industrial parks close to the freeway are home to many businesses and have ample room for more. The recent acquisition of nearly two downtown city blocks opens up opportunities that will enfold over the years for making our city center an interesting and exciting place to be.

"Finally, I hope you will get acquainted with as many of our people as possible because they are the chief source of my enthusiasm for living here."
