Apple Valley Apple Valley, established in 2004, spans 33 square miles and is surrounded by the Littlecreek, Smithsonian, and Canaan Mountains. Breathtaking views of Zion National Park, timbered mountains and vermilion red cliffs draw visitors and potential residents. Resident have easy access to bisecting interstate Highway 9 that leads from the Hurricane Valley to the Grand Canyon and Glen Canyon National Recreational Area and other vacation destinations. Apple Valley attracts a large number of tourists and outdoor enthusiasts. Within the town boundaries and adjacent acres are BLM lands that include ORV, equestrian, hiking and biking trails. Gooseberry Mesa Trail, a 13.4 mile back country loop, is an official mountain bike trail registered in the National Recreation Trails. At an altitude of approximately 4,700 feet, four distinct seasons change the landscape, each bringing special beauty and color to the valley. Summer temperatures are generally in the high 90's, rarely reaching triple digits and often accompanied with light breezes and monsoonal rain. Winter brings a light dusting of snow, sometimes melting by day's end, but usually lingering on to accumulate and provide ample snow for winter activities. People who move to Apple Valley fall in love with the wide open spaces, the majestic views, clean air, night skies and the peace and quiet that comes with rural valley life. A shared commitment to preserving the land and natural beauty of Apple Valley has led to strong community pride, a high level of involvement in the town building process and small town, neighborly camaraderie. |
